Big Ass Fans opened a manufacturing facility in Fort Worth, Texas, on Aug. 28, according to a press release.
The new plant spans 210,000 square feet and the high-volume, low-speed fan maker plans to hire 100 employees, with the potential to hire more, according to the release.
An investment number was not disclosed and Big Ass Fans did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
“Texas is our number one market and home to several of our largest customers – it's also where many of our valued suppliers are based,” Big Ass Fans President and CEO Ken Walma said in a statement.
Some of Big Ass Fans’ major customers include Amazon, Coca-Cola, FedEx, Walmart, Micron Technology and Toyota, according to its website.
The facility is located in Fort West Commerce Center, a new industrial development that also houses defense contractor Lockheed Martin, according to real estate investment firm Colliers’ press release. The site also serves as Big Ass Fans’ distribution hub, office space and showroom.
The plant is also close to major interstate highways as well as airports including Dallas Love Field and Dallas Fort-Worth International, according to a video by construction firm LGE Design Build.
“Proximity to suppliers and increased manufacturing capacity, along with ready access to a skilled workforce, will enable us to better and more quickly serve our customers across the state and region,” Walma said in a statement.
Big Ass Fans was established as HVLS Fan Co. in 1999 and predominately served the farming sector by keeping cows cooler. It later expanded its services to other industries due to word-of-mouth. The manufacturer later changed the name to Big Ass Fans after customers called them asking, “Are you the ones who make those big ass fans?”
In July 2021, Big Ass Fans was acquired by industrial conglomerate Madison Industries for an undisclosed amount, becoming part of the company’s portfolio of indoor air quality solutions.
