During September, multiple manufacturing companies in the U.S. sent notices to state governments about job cuts and closures, many of which are set to begin this fall and throughout the first half of 2027.
The manufacturing industry added 9,000 jobs in September, a 40% drop from August, according to U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics data released Oct. 2.
Meanwhile, manufacturing unemployment decreased by nearly 26% to 423,000 workers in September, compared to 571,000 a year ago.
The list comprises notices state governments posted or received throughout the month. Not included are company WARN Act updates.
